The Mig-23 is a fighter aircraft, and was the first attempt by the Soviet Union to design look-down/shoot-down radar and one of the first to be armed with beyond visual range missiles. The M variant first flew on June 1972 and was the first mass-produced version of the MiG-23. The wing had modifications, featuring leading-edge slats and was powered by The Tumansky R-29 engine.
