Introduced in 1937 as a transatlantic commercial aircraft capable of carrying 25 passengers, the Condor soon found itself in military service at the outbreak of the Second World War. The Condor's excellent range made it an ideal maritime patrol aircraft, often working in conjunction with German U-boats in successfully attacking Allied convoys crossing the Atlantic. The type was a possible candidate to serve the need as the Luftwaffe's long-range heavy bomber, but the concept never came to fruition. « less
